Yook-Kong Yong

Rutgers University

Short Course Instructor

Yook-Kong Yong is a professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Rutgers University in New Jersey, USA. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering in 1979 from Lafayette College in Easton, Pennsylvania. He then obtained a Master of Arts degree in 1981 and a Ph.D. in 1984, both in structures and mechanics from Princeton University in Princeton, New Jersey.

He is a registered Professional Engineer in New Jersey. Within the IEEE Society, he chaired the Technical Program Committee for the IEEE Ultrasonics Symposium in 2011 and has been a member of the Technical Program Committee for the IEEE Ultrasonics Symposia and IEEE Frequency Control Symposia since 1989. Additionally, he served as an associate editor for the journal IEEE Transactions on Ultrasonics, Ferroelectrics, and Frequency Control.

Yook-Kong Yong is also the recipient of the Carrol Phillips Bassett Civil Engineering Prize from Lafayette College. His research interests focus on the numerical modeling of bulk acoustic wave and surface acoustic wave piezoelectric resonators and filters. He studies their frequency-temperature behavior, acceleration sensitivity, noise characteristics, and thermal stress behavior. He holds fourteen patents related to quartz resonator technologies and has worked as a consultant in the industry.
