Dr. Vasily Temnov is a CNRS researcher at the Laboratory of Irradiated Solids (LSI) at Ecole Polytechnique, Palaiseau (France). After completing a master thesis in theoretical quantum optics and an experimental PhD on destructive femtosecond laser material interactions at the Duisburg-Essen University (Germany), he performed postdoctoral research in quantum plasmonics and magneto-plasmonics at TU Dortmund (Germany). He then received a DFG fellowship to conduct research on ultrafast acousto-plasmonics in the MIT Department of Chemistry. Upon his return to Europe, Dr. Temnov joined the CNRS in Le Mans (France) to work on ultrafast magneto-acoustics, where he initiated multiple international collaborations, which were often supported through the Humboldt foundation. In 2020 he moved to Ecole Polytechnique, where he leverages his expertise in physical acoustics to study femtosecond-laser nanostructuring of hybrid materials and, more recently, ultrafast quantum optics. Dr. Temnov also teaches at Ecole Polytechnique at the undergraduate and graduate levels, focusing on the early-stage integration of students in a range of research projects spinning around the topic of ultrafast quantum acousto-magneto-plasmonics.
