Prof. Zhongqing Su is Chair Professor of Intelligent Structures and Systems and Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU), Hong Kong. He currently serves as Editor-in-Chief of Ultrasonics and holds the Changjiang Chair Professorship. Prof. Su is an elected Distinguished Fellow of the International Institute of Acoustics and Vibration (IIAV) and has been the President of the Hong Kong Society of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics since 2025. He received his PhD from the School of Aerospace, Mechanical and Mechatronic Engineering at The University of Sydney, Australia. His research encompasses ultrasonics, structural and human health monitoring, nondestructive evaluation (NDE), wave propagation, and intelligent systems. In addition to his role at Ultrasonics, Prof. Su has served as Associate Editor for nine leading international journals, including Journal of Sound and Vibration, Structural Health Monitoring: An International Journal, and ASME Journal of NDE.
Prof. Su has chaired several major conferences, including the 7th Asia-Pacific Workshop on SHM (Hong Kong, 2018), SPIE Conference on Sensors and Smart Structures Technologies for Civil, Mechanical, and Aerospace Systems (Long Beach, USA, 2023), and SPIE Conference on Health Monitoring of Structural and Biological Systems (Long Beach, USA, 2024; Vancouver, Canada, 2025).
