Mapping the Future of Neurosonography: Where We Stand and What’s Next

This talk will provide a comprehensive overview of the current shift from structural grayscale to advanced functional neurosonography in the clinic, while mapping out the critical translational breakthroughs, technical limitations, and collaborative industry partnerships needed to shape the future of neonatal neuroimaging.

While conventional cranial ultrasound remains the bedside standard for neonatal neuroimaging, its traditional reliance on structural grayscale imaging fails to capture real-time functional and perfusion changes in the developing brain. To address this limitation, recent advancements have pushed neurosonography beyond anatomy into advanced functional domains, integrating techniques like contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) and microvascular imaging to track cerebral blood flow and hemodynamic fluctuations directly at the bedside. This talk will provide a comprehensive overview of the current shift from structural grayscale to advanced functional neurosonography in the clinic, while mapping out the critical translational breakthroughs, technical limitations, and collaborative industry partnerships needed to shape the future of neonatal neuroimaging.
